Eurovision: You Decide 2019
On the 8th February at the BBC studios in MediaCity, Salford, Manchester, Kerrie-Anne will be one of six vocalists competing to represent the UK in the world-renowned, perennial favourite, Eurovision Song Contest. The Eurovision Grand Final will take place in Tel Aviv on 18th May 2019.
The format for the 2019 song and artist selection comprises a ‘song off’ with three songs and six contestants, where two contestants will battle it out with their version of each song. Kerrie-Anne will be singing “Sweet Lies”, written by Scandinavian singer-songwriters Maria Broberg, Lisa Cabble and Esben Svane, with the talented Jamie Haj on production duties.
Ken Bruce introduced the three songs on his BBC Radio 2 show on 23rd January, and “Sweet Lies” earned a massive 59,000 views in the first few days, giving some measure of how many people follow Eurovision and already love this contender for the UK entry. Kerrie-Anne attended the BBC Eurovision press conference on the same day and enjoyed meeting the British media and several top Eurovision bloggers and journalists.
The lyrical storyboard of “Sweet Lies” tells the tale of a vulnerable lover in denial, who deep down knows that her relationship is failing but doesn’t want to accept the truth, and so keeps urging her partner to tell her “Sweet Lies” and give her “sweet highs”.
Kerrie-Anne delivers the track with a stunning dance-floor energy that has the bounce, effervescence, and vibe of a classic summer anthem. This is a tune with all of the elements to appeal to Eurovision lovers worldwide, and with Kerrie-Anne’s luscious vocals could see the UK on track to score it’s sixth Eurovision win in history, and a sweet sweet high for the whole country.
